8) Department of Cybernetics and AI was founded in 1964 (as Department of
Automation and Regulation). The department is a centre of research and
education in the field of cybernetics, control theory, artificial
intelligence, and related topics. The department offers programs leading
to master's degrees in Electrical Engineering.
In our department exist a relatively good tradition on philosophical
and methodological questions of cybernetics, artificial intelligence,
control theory, etc. There are some people which are interested in
philosophical problems.
I can introduce some my works in this realm. In 1991 I had written
for the journal of Slovak Cybernetics Society tha article: Philosophical
and methodological aspects of cybernetics (Cybernetics and Informatics,
Slovak Cybernetics Society, pp. 1-18, (in Slovak). In the frame of
Conferences of Departments of Cybernetics in (former) Czechoslovakia I
wrote following articles: Paradigms of Control Theory, and Does at all
exist Control Theory as a Science. In 1994 I took part in the conference
The Modern Rationality, which was organized by Department of Philosophy,
University of P. J. Safarika, Kosice (invited paper: Modern rationality: a
cybernetic view). In the journal of Slovak writers "The Literary Weekly"
I has published some essays: History and Present (cybernetic view),
Present and Future (a cybernetic view), Cybernetics and Politics,
Cybernetics and Politology. All articles I have prepared in English
and I plan to publish these work abroad (if it will be actual).
I am looking forward for good cooperation.
