I do feel a strong resonance with Principia Cybernetica and the views
you are expressing. I have been working on the same subjects, namely
understanding the human mind, human society and ethics.
I have always been interested in philosophical questions, (see the
above URL's) such as what can a mind possibly know about its
environment? What is knowledge? What is "good" and "evil"? Why do we
live? Do we have free will (and how free)? All these questions I
looked at and answered in the above mentioned: "Intelligent Systems
and their Societies".
I started out with an interest in whether the functions of the mind
could be realized in a machine (about 1947). Then became interested in
Artificial Intelligence. After many years I realized that artificial
intelligence just studied a particular aspect of the mind. So I became
interested in complete "intelligent systems". Lately I believe that
even that is not enough. A human type mind needs a human type body. So
now I am in the process of building a human shape robot with hands,
feet, eyes and ears (I don't know if I will ever finish it). From that
I think more can be learned about a (human type) mind.
During the above I became interested in general systems theory and am
a member ,for many years now, of such a society.
During my efforts to build artificial minds (not just models of minds)
quite naturally I became involved with philosophical questions.
But I am NOT INTERESTED in a philosophy where one author comments
about what another author wrote. I am ONLY interested in philosophical
questions than can be checked by the results of experiments.
For all further information please see the above URL's.
Finally, yes, from what I have read so far, I would like to contribute
with ideas and discussions to the PCP project.
