Subject: NEWS: Intl. Symposium on Autopoiesis

* CALL FOR PARTICIPATION:

Biology, Cognition, Language and Society:
An International Symposium on Autopoiesis

* ABSTRACT:

We are proud to announce an International Symposium on Autopoiesis --
the work of Humberto Maturana and Francisco Varela. This symposium
will be the first major event dedicated to this subject in 5 years.
The symposium is supported by Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais
(UFMG) in conjunction with its 70th anniversary celebration. Both
Maturana and Varela are slated to appear at the symposium -- a very
rare occurrence, and an indication of the centrality of this event to
the global autopoiesis community. The symposium programme will address
both issues of theory and practical applications of autopoietic
theory.
