Cortex, or, "what was that?!"

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to information about object
recognition or spatial localization in auditory cortex. I'm trying to do
some relatively simple research on one or the other (either would be a good
start) but I'm coming up empty handed a lot. I really haven't found much in
Kandel or Carlson, and most of what I've found has more to do with
binaurality or tonotopic organization. Where I understand that these locate
and track sound sources, I can't seem to find the "what" areas in any of my
texts or journals so far.
