I am trying hard to follow the bottom-up top down discussion, but
must admit am somewhat confused.
Is it a good idea to try to synthesize some of the terms [formal
model, model, etc]. It might be possible that we cannot get a full
list everyone agrees upon, but with the replication discussion it
surely helped me a lot to get through the loads of definitions.

By the way, I am on holiday for two weeks starting moday,
