Daniel Dennett makes some interesting comments about the evolution and
propagation of memes (crediting Dawkins) in _Consciousness
Explained_(1991)[esp. pp.200-210]. Of course, Dennett also argues that the
multiplicity of brain functions means that we really don't have unitary
"minds" at all...
