Title: Meatzoan Complexity and Evolution: is there a trend?

Journal: Evolution, 50, 477-492

Comments: Proposes some low-level, but objective measures of complexity and then reviews the evidence for trends in the maximum and mean complexity over evolution. Distinguishes between passive and driven trends. Conclusion is agnostic - there may have been an increase in complexity but there is not evidence yet.
